2025 Ray Miller Hartsville/Trousdale County
Citizen of the Year Award Winner

John Oliver

The Downtown Hartsville Revitalization Commission, Inc. has named John Oliver as the 2025 Ray Miller Hartsville/Trousdale County Citizen of the Year. He will be recognized at the annual Goose Gala on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

A beloved educator, historian, and volunteer, Oliver has spent more than five decades serving Trousdale County. He taught for 39 years in the local school system, inspiring generations of students through his love of English, art, and community.

Beyond the classroom, Oliver helped establish the Trousdale County Historical Society in the early 1980s and has authored six books on local history. He has volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 20 years and teaches Tai Chi classes each week at the Trousdale County Senior Center.

“John Oliver’s lifelong dedication to education, history, and community service makes him a true example of what this award represents,” said Susan McDonald, President of Downtown Hartsville Revitalization Commission, Inc.

The Ray Miller Citizen of the Year Award honors individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership, volunteerism, and commitment to the betterment of Hartsville and Trousdale County.

Ford Family 

The Downtown Hartsville Revitalization Commission, Inc. has announced the Ford Family as the recipients of the 2025 E.J. Parker Hartsville/Trousdale County Leadership Award. The family will be honored at the annual Goose Gala on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Established in 1973, the Ford Family’s company, Hartsville Cabinet & Millworks, Inc., has set the standard for premium cabinetry and craftsmanship for more than five decades. Led by Adam Ford, Halle Duffer, Hunter Ford, Alex Ford, and Andrew Ford—affectionately known as “Pigs”—the family continues to uphold a proud legacy of quality and community service.

In addition to their longstanding business success, the Ford Family is known for their generosity and support of local events and charities, including the Goose Gala and River City Ball.

“The Ford Family’s dedication to craftsmanship and community reflects the true spirit of the E.J. Parker Leadership Award,” said Susan McDonald, President of Downtown Hartsville Revitalization Commission, Inc.

The E.J. Parker Leadership Award recognizes exceptional civic leadership, community involvement, and a lasting commitment to Hartsville and Trousdale County.
